A516 Grade 70 boiler steel plates are mainly used in welded pressure vessels where improved notch toughness is important. Generally As rolled is ok for rolling pressure vessel steel plate A516Gr70,however,for improve steel property and toughness, our engineers suggest the end users accept rolling A516 Grade 70 steel plates under Normalized, especially for the steel plates thickness above 40mm.NACE MR-0175 A516 Grade 70 with HIC test and SSCC test.
Technical Requirements & Additional Services:
- High tension test
- Low temperature impacting test
- Normalised for thick plates over 40mm
- Simulated post-welded heat treatment (PWHT)
- Rolling under standard NACE MR-0175 (HIC+SSCC)
- Issued Orginal Mill test certificate under EN 10204 FORMAT 3.1/3.2
- Shot blasting and Painting,Cutting and welding as per end user’s demands

ASTM A516-70 Plate As Rolled Plate
ASTM A516 Grade 70 Plate is also called out as ASME SA516-70. This steel plate grade is a medium carbon alloy that also contains amounts of manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon. A516 is primarily used for service in welded pressure vessels where improved notch toughness is required. It is typically found in moderate and lower temperature applications. A516 is sometimes called PVQ516.
Supplementary testing such as Charpy Impacts, Ultrasonic Examination and Carbon Equivalency are available. All plates over 1-1/2″ Thick are required to be normalized. A516 is the most popular Pressure Vessel grade of steel plate in the industry. It is produced in grades 55, 60, 65 or 70. The most common is Grade 70 or called out A516-70.
