ASTM A885 Standard Specification

ASTM A885/A885M-96(2002) Standard Specification for Steel Sheet, Zinc and Aramid Fiber Composite Coated for Corrugated Steel Sewer, Culvert, and Underdrain Pipe (Withdrawn 2006)

corrugated steel pipe

Our corrugated steel pipe is available in a variety of thicknesses and is available with a galvanized, aluminized or polymer coating. We also offer corrugated stainless steel pipe. These products are used extensively in flood control, drainage, and sewer systems because steel is reliable, traceable, sustainable, and strong. We manufacture pipe sizes ranging from 6” diameter through 156” diameter. A range of wall thicknesses are available and the standard length is 20-feet, though other lengths are available. Sunny Steel also provides complimentary products for all of your project development needs.

ASTM A885 Standard specification covered steel sheet, composite coated, used in the manufacture of corrugated pipe used for sewers, culverts, and underdrains. The composite coating consists of a layer of aramid nonwoven fabric bonded by molten zinc to the steel sheet, to act as a bonding medium for asphalt coatings later applied to fabricated products. Material for this use is furnished in coils, flat in cut lengths, and corrugated in cut lengths.

Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee A05 on Metallic Coated Iron and Steel Products, this specification was withdrawn in May 2006. This specification was withdrawn without replacement because this product is no longer manufactured.

Scope

1.1 ASTM A885 Standard specification covers steel sheet, composite coated, used in the manufacture of corrugated pipe used for sewers, culverts, and underdrains.
1.2 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as the standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independent of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification.

1.3 ASTM A885 Standard specification and some referenced specifications are expressed in both inch-pound and SI units. If the order specifies the applicable “M” specification designation, the product shall be furnished to SI units.

Note 1—Steel sheet with other metallic coatings is described in Specification A 929/A 929M.
