SPV355 is one of the material symbols stipulated in JIS standards as a steel material for pressure vessels. Also called SPV material. Since it is only for pressure vessels and contains various regulations for determining breaking strength, it may be used for other than pressure vessels. According to the regulations, it is a grade that can also control thermal processing. In this case, improvement of weldability, improvement of low temperature brittleness, etc. can be specified.
The thickness range of the applied steel sheet / steel material is 6 mm or more and 150 mm or less. From the composition, it can also be called low carbon silicon manganese steel.
Because there are a lot of indicators for seeing weldability and strength, it can be used other than pressure vessels depending on cost.
The number 355 in the SPV symbol indicates the lower limit of the yield point (proof strength) that must be satisfied in MPa. Tensile strength ranges from 520 to 640 MPa at room temperature, and is a well thought-out material for fracture strength.
