SPV450 is a kind of silicon manganese steel and is used for pressure vessels. It is a steel grade that is easy to use because it has parameters that are indispensable for use as a pressure vessel, but of course it can also be used for other purposes. Slightly different from other steel materials, 450 in the numerical part of the material symbol SPV450 is not the tensile strength but the minimum value of the yield point (proof stress) in MPa.
Although a large amount of carbon adversely affects weldability, it affects the strength, so it is supplemented with alloying elements.
