Cast basalt floor tiles are high-performance wear resistant tiles designed for industrial flooring, offering excellent protection against abrasion, impact and chemical corrosion.

What are Cast Basalt Floor Tiles?

Cast basalt floor tiles are produced by melting natural basalt rock at high temperature and casting it into dense, microcrystalline tile shapes. After controlled cooling and crystallization, the material becomes extremely hard and wear resistant.

These tiles are commonly used to protect industrial floors that are exposed to continuous abrasion from bulk materials, heavy equipment, and aggressive chemical environments.

Manufacturing techniques

Basalt is one of the hardest natural materials known to man and is renowned worldwide for its longevity. Basalt, as a neovolcanic rock is smelted in the gas furnace at around 1280° C and cast into metallic or sand moulds at a temperature of around 1200° C. The cast basalt tiles are annealed in a furnace for approximately 16 to 21 hours to achieve the uniform crystalline structure that gives our finished tiles superior long-term performance and their unique appearance.

Appearance

Cast Basalt Tiles are naturally black with some tinges of bronze. The surface is not perfectly flat.
