Basalt Lined Special Pipe
Basalt Lined Special Pipe - industrial steel pipe
Cast basalt lined steel straight pipes provide superior protection against abrasion, erosion and corrosion in demanding industrial conveying applications.
Cast basalt lined steel straight pipes are engineered for long-term service in abrasive material conveying systems where conventional steel pipelines experience rapid wear and frequent replacement. By combining a robust carbon steel shell with an extremely hard cast basalt lining, these pipes deliver exceptional durability and operational reliability.
Straight pipe sections form the backbone of most industrial conveying systems. Although wear is often concentrated at bends and transitions, long pipeline runs can also suffer significant abrasion when transporting fly ash, coal powder, mineral concentrates, tailings, clinker, sand and other abrasive materials.
The cast basalt lining acts as a protective barrier between the conveyed material and the steel shell, greatly extending pipeline service life while reducing maintenance costs and production downtime.
Produced from carefully selected volcanic basalt, the lining material is melted at temperatures above 1250°C and then crystallized under controlled conditions. This process creates a dense microstructure with excellent hardness, abrasion resistance and chemical stability.
Cast basalt lined straight pipes are widely used in mining operations, coal-fired power plants, cement manufacturing facilities, steel mills, dredging projects and chemical processing industries.
Available in various diameters, lining thicknesses and connection configurations, these pipes can be tailored to meet specific project requirements.
A cast basalt lined steel straight pipe consists of an outer steel pipe and an inner lining made from fused cast basalt segments. The steel shell provides mechanical strength and pressure resistance, while the basalt lining protects the internal surface against severe wear and chemical attack.
Unlike ordinary steel pipelines that gradually lose wall thickness due to abrasion, basalt lined pipes maintain their integrity for significantly longer periods under identical operating conditions. This makes them particularly suitable for high-wear applications where reliability and low maintenance are essential.
Depending on the application, the basalt lining can be manufactured in different thicknesses to balance wear life, pipe weight and installation requirements.
