Cast basalt composite S-pipe
Cast basalt composite S-pipe - industrial steel pipe
Cast basalt lined bends combine the strength of steel with the exceptional wear resistance of fused cast basalt for long-lasting pipeline performance.
In abrasive conveying systems, wear is rarely distributed evenly throughout the pipeline. Straight pipe sections typically experience relatively uniform abrasion, while bends are subjected to concentrated particle impact whenever the flow direction changes.
As abrasive particles travel through a pipeline, centrifugal force pushes them toward the outer radius of the bend. This creates a localized wear zone where material continuously strikes the pipe wall at high velocity. Over time, ordinary carbon steel bends can suffer rapid wall thinning, leakage and premature failure.
Cast basalt lined bends are specifically developed to address this challenge. The extremely hard basalt lining absorbs the impact of abrasive particles while protecting the steel shell beneath. This significantly extends operating life and improves overall system reliability.
