Heavy Calibre Composite Reducer

Cast Basalt Wear Resistant Reducer

Heavy calibre composite reducers provide smooth pipeline diameter transitions while delivering outstanding abrasion resistance in demanding industrial applications.

What Is a Heavy Calibre Composite Reducer?

Heavy calibre composite reducers are engineered to provide smooth and reliable transitions between different pipe diameters in abrasive material conveying systems. Combining a high-strength steel shell with a cast basalt wear-resistant lining, these reducers offer excellent protection against erosion, abrasion and particle impact.

A heavy calibre composite reducer is a wear-resistant pipe fitting designed to connect two pipeline sections of different diameters. Its primary function is to provide a controlled and gradual transition that minimizes pressure loss, flow disruption and localized wear.

Unlike conventional reducers manufactured entirely from steel, a composite reducer incorporates a cast basalt lining that shields the internal surface from abrasive particles. This significantly extends service life in systems handling ores, coal, ash, clinker, slag and other wear-intensive materials.

The reducer body is fabricated from steel for strength and pressure resistance, while the internal basalt lining provides long-term protection against abrasion and corrosion.

In mining, power generation, cement production and bulk material handling operations, pipeline diameter changes are often necessary to optimize flow rates, accommodate equipment connections or match process requirements. These transition points can experience severe wear due to turbulence and velocity changes.

A cast basalt composite reducer helps maintain pipeline integrity by protecting the internal surface from continuous exposure to abrasive media while ensuring efficient material flow.

The reducer incorporates specially shaped cast basalt lining sections that are carefully fitted inside a fabricated steel body. This composite construction combines the structural advantages of steel with the outstanding wear resistance of fused cast basalt.

Heavy calibre reducers are commonly used in slurry pipelines, fly ash conveying systems, tailings transport networks, clinker handling systems and other severe wear applications where long service life is essential.

Various reducer configurations can be manufactured according to project specifications, including concentric and eccentric designs.
